Additions to the DSM 5 Draft

Imagination Deficit Disorder
  • Inability to creatively solve problems
  • persistent lack of imagination
  • lack of emotional response to environment or abstract stimuli
  • cannot intuitively perceive subtleties
  • incapability or difficulty with "out-of-the-box" or "lateral" thinking
  • requires instructions and memorization
  • inability to teach oneself
  • productivity depends on pressure, rewards and deadlines
  • productivity remains the same regardless of level of personal interest
  • inability to see both sides of an issue, or have multiple opinions
  • often feels "boring" or "ordinary"
  • sufferers worry of dying without having accomplished anything unique
Apathetic Functioning Disorder
  • performance is based only on expectations, and not on personal considerations
  • low standards in quality of work, "it's good enough"
  • unlikely to report minor issues, often misses subtle problems
  • tendency to "look out for number one"
  • unemotional reactions to treatment from others
