Compulsive speech

A seem to have a lot of male friends who suffer from the compulsion to say things that aren't necessary, when the person they're talking to is paying attention to somebody else, or is out of earshot, or as a redundant comment. Even gibberish or random phrases are part of it.

My mom had this problem, and I think it's part of what gave me ADD. I was never allowed to control my own attention, so that ability never developed. She probably wasn't, either. Or she suffered prefrontal cortex damage from solvents early in life.

Yeah. It only makes sense that you could get ADD in several ways. It's a structural pattern of brain development. It's an adaptation.
